The END of Vortex.io

In late 2006, a beta version of a flash game, called Vortex, took the internet by storm. The game was a fan favorite of www.coolfungames.com visitors before it was even a fully completed game. Although the game had many bugs and glitches, including the one that removed BOxy’s mouth, the way the game ran was just the right amount of unique and fun during it’s time. Joey and Bongo would visit Vortex for many years in their spare time, taking the NET Bus just a couple stops away to hang out with their RGB pink and blue friends…

Finally in 2015, after many years of flash game brilliance, many of the games on www.coolfungames.com were shutting down, including Vortex.io. On September 1st, 2012, Vortex.io was officially shut down. The characters had no idea what to do with themselves. Because of how many games were being shut down at the time, it didn’t seem like there was any chance of a fan run rewrite of the game. And so, that was that for the characters.

In 2020, Nostalgia Boy began to help Joey and Bongo fund their trips around the internet, so that they could once again see their long lost friends. Vortex is still in limbo, and Joey is trying his hardest to get the people of the world to keep the spirit of his friends alive through the Nostalgia Boy collectable merchandise. With NET Bus ticket prices through the roof, it’s more difficult now than ever for the spirits of these long lost characters to stay alive. Can YOU help the legacy of Jo Jo and his friends from Vortex.io alive?

MEET THE CHARACTERS

Squilge

Squilge is the leader of the pack, however, his worrisome nature makes it difficult sometimes for him to figure out the best next move in many situations.

BOxy

BOxy is a quiet one. His lack of a mouth prevents him from communicating very well, but he is extremely passionate and loyal to his friends. BOxy loves exploring other parts of the internet in his time off, especially downloadable midi files, he loves music.

Dogy

Dogy is the shy member of the group. She always seems to be uncomfortable in new situations, and hesitant, even in familiar ones. She loves her friends as much as anything, but Dogy also enjoys a hot bubble bath and a good doggy treat. Woof!
